I will outline for you how, once you decide to go ahead and make the changes, we will work together to provide an activity program that is appropriate to you, taking into account the goals and vision that you have for your future appearance, energy and vitality levels.
Overall, the structure and programme will comprise the following:
• FREE Initial Consultation
• Lifestyle Questionnaire
• Health Screening
• Fitness Assessment
• 12 week Activity Programme (minimum)
• Ongoing Assessments. (weeks 6 & 12)
Initial Consultation
The purpose of this is to provide an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to discuss the reasons and benefits that you want to achieve from your programme. The outcome of this session will be a clear idea of your preparedness for and objectives of a personal training programme. I will write to you separately with the detail of what to expect during this session.
Health Screening
The programme will start with a health screening and fitness assessment. When we start, I will record the following information for use in subsequent calculations to enable the most appropriate and effective programme for you:
• Age
• Weight in llb’s & kg’s
• Height in inches, cm’s & metres
• Resting Heart Rate
Your health screening will comprise the following stages:
1. Completion of a Physical Activity Preparedness Questionnaire (PARQ)
2. Identification of your risk factor status for Coronary Heart/ Arterial Disease (CHD/CAD)
3. Identification of any medical contraindications to exercise.
4. Medical Referral if necessary
Fitness Assessment
The purpose of the fitness assessment is to help provide functional information to help develop personal activity programme for you, which in turn will provide greater safety, health benefits and will enhance your enjoyment of the process.
We will perform an assessment of your body’s ability to utilise oxygen (V02Max). This may be performed on a cycle, a stepping box or as a fast run or walk. We may include a combination of assessments for strength, flexibility and power and take measurements of your body composition to establish body fat percentage by using approved methods.
Activity Programme
The results from the above assessments, taken together with your desired outcomes for your new lifestyle will determine the nature, frequency, duration and intensity of your activity/exercise sessions. You will be re-assessed at weeks six and twelve so that measurements of your improvement can be taken. By this time, you will be feeling fitter and
healthier and the improvement in your assessment results will add to your overall feeling of success which in turn will boost your motivation and determination to keep going.
I can be with you for as many of your sessions as you wish. I recommend a minimum of one session per week with me. The remainder of your weekly sessions can be completed unsupervised as you start to feel increasingly motivated and competent with the activities that we prescribe and agree.
