Fitness Assessment

Paul Bellard is a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals
There is a fee of £20.00 for this assessment, which includes a once only set-up & administration fee.
The purpose of the fitness assessment is to help provide individualised activity programmes for you, which in turn will provide greater safety and health benefits. When you attend for your assessment, please wear sports clothing that will permit you to exercise safely and comfortably, keep you warm and allow me to get access to your triceps, abdomen and the front of your thigh for the skin-fold measurements or hips up to your waist for circumference measurements.
You may also want to bring with you a change of clothing that will permit a “before” photograph for comparison at the six and twelve week assessments. This is optional only and is not a requirement. If you would prefer to bring a friend along to your assessment, please feel free to do so.
Cardiorespiratory Assessment
We will perform an assessment of your body’s ability to utilise oxygen (VO2MAX), which may be performed on a cycle, a stepping box or as a fast run or walk. The run or walk will be for a distance of 1.6 km (1 mile).
Body Composition Measurement will be taken via either a circumference measurement of your hips, waist and abdomen and or skin-fold measurements taken at your triceps, abdomen and the mid point between your hip and knee at the front of your thigh.
Body Mass Index is a simple calculation of information gained at the Health Screening stage to identify if you are at a healthy weight for your height.
Muscular Endurance Testing is a combination of push-ups, abdominal curl-ups and bench press exercises.
Flexibility Assessment is a combination of the following areas:
Trunk Flexion
Trunk Extension
Hip Flexion
Hip Extension
Shoulder Flexibility
Once we have the results, they will be compared to the standards as set out in the American College of Sports Medicine 2006 (ACSM) Guidelines to Exercise Testing and Prescription 7th Edition which is the industry standard recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals.
Once the analysis is completed, the results together with the information gathered from your initial consultation, the health screening and the lifestyle questionnaire will provide all of the information needed to design a programme that will help you to achieve your health & fitness goals, safely, efficiently and effectively.
